Career and Technical Education
General Information
Career & Technical Education (CTAE) & Computer Science (CS) is offered in Gwinnett County Public Schools to better prepare high school students for the demands of the 21st-century economy and postsecondary education. All courses provide an environment where students can learn the relevance of combining technical skills with academic knowledge.
The Career and Technical Education Department (CTAE) at Gwinnett Online Campus (GOC) offers a variety of elective courses aligned to state-approved CTAE and CS career pathways. GOC Career Pathways are developed and approved by the Georgia Department of Education and Gwinnett County Public Schools.
Course Structure & Daily Expectations
Students may select a Career Pathway which includes a sequence of Three courses in a concentrated area, or they can take stand-alone courses to meet their elective graduation requirements.
On average students should expect to spend 60-90 minutes per day during a semester, 120-150 minutes per day while taking a block course during a semester, and 240 minutes per day during a summer semester.

Class Support & Live Sessions
All Instructors will host synchronous review sessions prior to each unit exam throughout the semester. These sessions are designed to reinforce key concepts, address student questions, and support mastery of course standards through targeted review and remediation. In addition, instructors are available for individualized assistance during office hours by appointment.
