K-3 General Information

Kindergarted

Kindergarten - 3rd grade students meet in live virtual sessions Monday - Friday from 8:30 - 2:30. The schedule includes breaks for lunch and recess.

Attendance is required daily for K-3 because of the need for live interaction with teachers each day. Sessions are not recorded, so students who are not present will miss the instruction that day just like they would in a regular in-person classroom.
Students should be attending class sessions at a regular work station with all of the supplies provided for the program.

4-5 General Information

4th and 5th

Gwinnett Online Campus uses a hybrid approach to teach our 4th and 5th grade students. Students attend required Live Virtual Sessions on Monday - Wednesday mornings along with online lessons. Students complete assigned work independently after lunch on these days. In addition, teachers hold a live support session on Thursdays to provide support for students who need additional help. While some students will be required to attend the support sessions, all students are welcome to attend. Students will be assigned lessons on Fridays as well. The online lessons are delivered through our learning platform Desire2Learn.

4th & 5th Grade Online Only Option: If students have demonstrated success completing online lessons independently, parents may request this option. This means, students are not required to attend the Live Virtual Sessions each week. Students are still encouraged to attend the Monday sessions to get the week off to a great start. Requests to opt out of the live sessions and complete online lessons instead should be sent to the counselor, Ms. Barbara Santiago-Fecht. The grade level teaching team and counselor will determine if this option is appropriate for the student. All students must begin the school year by attending the live sessions. This option would begin on the 3rd week of school.

Class Schedules

Attendance is taken at Virtual Sessions. Students should expect to spend between 45 and 60 minutes in each core content class (language arts, math, science, social studies) each day. Students will also have Connection Classes in Health & PE, and Art (1 semester) or Computer Science (1 semester). It will take students about 1 - 2 hours per week to complete the requirements for these classes.
